Amazon clothing image requirements, from the official style guide

Amazon's Clothing and Accessories style guide for selling partners sets the rules for the MAIN image and the extra views of every apparel listing. This page quotes the guide directly, so you can check a shoot or an AI render against the source before you upload. Image size and file format

Images uploaded must be at least 1,000px on the longest side and no larger than 3,900px on the longest side, to enable zoom functionality.

In practice: export JPEG, keep the long side between 1,000 and 3,900 pixels, and resize large masters down before upload instead of letting them fail.

Background

MAIN images must have a pure white background (RGB Value 255, HEX Value #FFFFFF.

Gray backdrops are listed among the failures in the guide ("Image is on grey background and with props"). If your on-model frame has a colored scene, use it as an alternate image, not as the MAIN.

Model rules for the MAIN image

Model that is sitting, kneeling, leaning, or lying down (models must be standing)

Models MUST WEAR SHOES on the MAIN (except for swimwear and sleepwear)

The guide also bans accessories or props that are not included with the purchase, such as phones, drinkware and handbags, and any text, logos, borders or watermarks on the MAIN.

When the MAIN has to be a flat lay

The crop guide lists the categories that are shot off-figure as a lay down: all kids and baby items, and women's and men's accessories such as scarves, belts, hats and ties. Multipacks are shot off-figure too.

For kids' undergarments and swimwear the guide requires flat images only, for the MAIN and every alternate image.

One MAIN per color

Each color variation (child SKU) needs its own MAIN image that shows that exact color. A shirt in five colors needs five MAIN images, so a catalog with many colorways multiplies the shot count fast.

Checklist before upload

  • JPEG, long side 1,000 to 3,900 px
  • Pure white background (#FFFFFF) on the MAIN
  • Adult apparel: model standing, wearing shoes (swimwear and sleepwear excepted)
  • Kids, baby, accessories, multipacks: flat lay MAIN
  • No props, text, logos, borders or watermarks
  • One MAIN per color variation

Where NotShot fits

NotShot turns a flat-lay photo into an on-model frame with a standing pose, so one flat-lay per color covers both the off-figure image and the on-model MAIN. An AI judge scores every render for garment fidelity before you see it. Check the export size and background against the checklist above before you upload. See flat lay to on-model photos for the workflow.
