ABOUT YOU image requirements for clothing (2026)

Published 2026-11-01

ABOUT YOU is a fashion platform, and its partner documentation has a detailed page on product images. For apparel, ABOUT YOU asks for an on-model image as part of the minimum. This page collects what its docs say, with the date we checked them, and turns it into a shot list for clothing. We make NotShot, an AI on-model photo tool, so we also cover where on-model images fit.

Four full length photos of the same man in the same light gray crew neck sweatshirt, each with different pants and a different pose: hands on hips, arms crossed, three quarter turn and an angled stance, on plain gray backdrops.
Four on-model renders of one sweatshirt made with NotShot, the kind of set ABOUT YOU recommends (2 to 4 model images). These are full length on backdrops we measured darker than #F4F4F5. For ABOUT YOU, the first model view is cropped to the product on the lighter gray.

The minimum: one bust view and one model view

ABOUT YOU's page Product Image Requirements (checked by us on 1 November 2026) says an apparel item must have at least one first bust view and one first model view, cropped. Either can be used as the first view in the shop. Its recommended set is:

Model images are not required for shoes, accessories, the kids assortment and home and living.

Format, pixels and files

A light gray of 244/244/245 is very close to white. Studio grays can be darker than that, like the backdrop in the render above, so check a few background pixels before you upload.

Allowed exceptions

ABOUT YOU accepts some images that miss the standard, and the product can go live, but each exception leads to what the page calls a 1.0 percentage point increase to your APR (checked 1 November 2026):

Launch stoppers

These images are not accepted under any circumstances and keep the product from going live:

The page adds that if your images are rejected and don't qualify for an exception, the product does not go live and you are not charged for it.

Why products get rejected

ABOUT YOU's page Product Rejection (checked by us on 1 November 2026) says most rejections are due to missing or low quality images, and that blurry, cropped or incomplete images fail its minimum standards. Its rejection reasons also include a missing first bust or model image, a background that is not white, transparent or light gray, a wrong viewing angle, images that differ from the attributes or description, photos that don't match the selected color, and a brand that doesn't match the one on the images.

ABOUT YOU image checklist for clothing

  1. Bust view: the garment on a bust, from the front, cut out on white or transparent.
  2. Model view: cropped to the garment, front facing, nothing cut off, on #F4F4F5 gray.
  3. More model images: 2 to 4 in total, all 3:4.
  4. Details: 1 to 2 close ups of fabric, print or closures.
  5. Files: 1500×2000 pixels (never below 1125×1500), JPEG up to 2 MB or PNG up to 4 MB.
  6. Match: each color variant gets its own photos, consistent with its attributes and brand.

Where NotShot fits

ABOUT YOU asks for 2 to 4 model images per apparel item, and the first model view is part of the minimum, so every garment needs a model shoot or an on-model image made another way. NotShot renders your garment on your own model from the product photo you already have. Every render is checked by an AI judge that compares it with your upload for color, print and cut. Renders below the quality bar are refunded automatically, so you pay for photos that pass the check, not for attempts. Check the 3:4 crop, the pixel minimum and the #F4F4F5 background before you upload, and keep your bust view for the first slot. Plans are on the pricing page.

Questions we get asked

Model images and uncropped bust shots must be 3:4 upright. ABOUT YOU gives 1500×2000 pixels as the format, with a minimum of 1125×1500 pixels at 96 dpi or more. Images below 1125×1500 pixels stop the product from going live.

Do I need model images for every product on ABOUT YOU?
