In the Wix Editor, the wide banner at the top of a store page is usually a strip with a background image. Wix publishes a recommended minimum for strip images, a separate minimum for sharp site images, and file limits for backgrounds, and the three pages don't give the same number. This page collects what Wix's own Help Center says, quoted with the date we checked it, and turns it into a banner plan for a clothing store. We make NotShot, an AI on-model photo tool, so we also cover where on-model images fit.
Wix's Changing your strip background guide (checked by us on 1 November 2026) recommends uploading images with a resolution of no less than 1920px by 1080px for a strip background. Two other Wix pages, checked the same day, set higher figures:
Read together, 1920 x 1080 is the floor for a strip, and a larger file gives the banner room to stay sharp on wide screens.
From the Supported media file types and file sizes page, checked 1 November 2026:
The Optimizing site media guide adds that you should compress files larger than 25MB before uploading, and suggests replacing background images with static elements like shapes or colored sections to reduce load times. For a clothing store, that is a reason to keep one strong banner per page rather than a background photo behind every section.
Wix's Adding and setting up a strip guide (checked 1 November 2026) says a strip automatically spans the width of your site, and you can change the width with the Stretch icon. The maximum height for a strip is 15,000 px. Because the strip runs edge to edge while its height follows your layout, the banner image is shown wide, so a portrait product photo uploaded as is will be heavily cropped. Crop it to a wide shape first, with the garment where you want it.

Wix also suggests adding a color along with the image: the color appears while the image is loading. Pick a color close to the photo's background so the banner doesn't flash white first. If you use a video background instead, Wix notes that video backgrounds on strips are set to not play on mobile by default, and you enable them in the mobile editor.

A banner sets the look of the whole store, and it only works when it matches the product photos below it, which for a clothing brand usually means booking the same model and setup again for every season. NotShot renders your garment on your own model from the product photo you already have, so the banner and the store grid can share one model, one framing and one background. Every render is checked by an AI judge that compares it with your upload for color, print and cut, so the banner shows the colors customers receive. Renders below the quality bar are refunded automatically, so you pay for photos that pass the check, not for attempts. Plans are on the pricing page.
