Wix Stores gives a clear number for product images, but the way your product gallery crops them decides what shoppers actually see. A long dress can lose its hem, and a grid of mixed ratios looks uneven. This page collects what Wix's own help center says, quoted with the date we checked it, and turns it into a setup for clothing. We make NotShot, an AI on-model photo tool, so we also cover where on-model renders fit.
Wix's guide Adding Product Images, GIFs, and Videos (checked 1 November 2026) gives these recommendations:
Wix's page Supported media file types and file sizes (checked 1 November 2026) lists the upload limits: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF and other formats are accepted, images can be up to 50MB and GIFs up to 15MB. Animated WEBP images are converted to static images.
Our suggestion for clothing: export every product image as a square 3000 x 3000 JPEG. Square meets the mobile recommendation, and the same file works across most layouts. You don't need to convert to AVIF yourself, because Wix converts uploaded images to AVIF on your live site (Wix site performance guide, checked 1 November 2026).
Wix's help page Product Gallery Images Appear Cropped on Mobile Devices (checked 1 November 2026) explains the two resizing options in the product gallery:
You set this in the Editor, in desktop mode: click the Product Gallery, open Settings, then the Layout tab, and choose Crop or Fit and an image ratio. For clothing, Crop with a 1:1 ratio gives an even grid, as long as every photo is framed the same way. Leave space above the head and below the hem when you shoot, so the crop never touches the garment. If your photos are full-length portrait shots you don't want to reframe, Fit keeps them whole.
The same Wix guide says you can link images, GIFs and videos to each product option choice, such as a color, but not to each individual variant (checked 1 November 2026). For clothing, that means one image set per color: connect each color choice to its own photos so shoppers see the exact colorway they pick. The first image in the list is the default, and you can drag images to reorder them.

A Wix gallery set to Crop looks even only when every product has the same ratio and framing, and each color needs its own images. Both are hard to keep across shoots. NotShot renders your garment on your own model from the product photo you already have, so new products and new colorways match the framing of the old ones. Every render is checked by an AI judge that compares it with your upload for color, print and cut. Renders below the quality bar are refunded automatically, so you pay for photos that pass the check, not for attempts. Plans are on the pricing page.
